Did Madonna Rip-Off Niurka?

Speaking of noteworthy ads, Madonna’s one for her latest endeavor has caused a well-orchestrated stir by being deemed too racy for mainstream TV.

“My oldest memory of my mother is her perfume. I carry it with me everywhere. She always smelled like gardenias and tuberose. An intoxicating mixture – feminine and mysterious.”

Madge says of the signature fragrance in a press release.

In the black and white advert, the Material Mom, who is currently prepping her next world tour, is seen making love to the camera, licking her lips and gyrating about in a suggestive fashion.

It all seems a little, well…reductive of another diva’s succesful perfume launch. We of course, are referring to Niurka, who in years passed delighted auto body shop workers far and wide with her human pheromone-laced scent.

The similarities are uncanny. Judge for yourselves:

Based on the Gregorian chants alone, we’re giving this one to Niurka.
