In Mexico, it’s Now Socially Acceptable to Order Pepsi the Naco Way

The dreaded naco double-whammy "Picza con Pecsi" finally has a face

Step it up Coke, Pepsi has gone naco.

“Naco” is one of those words in the Mexi jargon that is hard to translate. It’s a mash-up of tacky, unhip, low-class, gauche and overall lacking refinement.

As the eponymous clothing line states however, being naco is now considered “chido” (a naco word itself meaning cool), and the soda pop giant—in its most surprising move since the late  Joan Crawford joined the board—has jumped on the populous bandwagon marketing its product with its often mispronounced (and über naco-fied) “Pecsi” misnomer.

Spearheading the campaign? None other than naco soccer king Cuauhtémoc Blanco himself.

¡Arriba Tepito! Enjoy the commercial bellow.
